Chemical Sensitivity

line

Have you ever stopped to consider what synthetic chemicals might be doing to your body?

I have personal experience with this as I have chemical sensitivity myself. We live in an increasingly synthetic and disposable world and many believe that they are disposable themselves. Our body is actually designed to heal itself, however the over load of toxins prevents it from doing so.

Everyone has a different tolerance to pain, discomfort and yes, toxicity. I recall when I was declining in health and no one knew what was wrong with me, except that I was ‘a moody woman’. The day the toxicity level in my body tipped to over load is one I’ll never forget. I thought I was ill prior to that day! what came after had no comparison to what was before.

I had developed, over time, multiple chemical sensitivity, and when I say ‘multiple’ that’s no exaggeration. I was sensitivity to anything and everything synthetic. We moved to the country and were surprised to learn how many toxins were to be found there. I was unable to drive a car, I could not step into a supermarket or any shop. Going to people’s homes was an issue. I became isolated which brought along a host of other issues.

What did chemical sensitivity do to me? I’m not answering that here. I have recently understood that my chemical sensitivity now works for me. I’m able to forgive my past now!

I have healed myself. This has taken time and I continue to heal myself. These days however, I’m able to say that the chemical sensitivity has given me a gift. I can determine purity from synthetic, just from scent alone.

This is why I use dōTERRA essential oils.

Now, I’m learning exactly how essential oils work in the body and why it’s vital that certified, pure, therapeutic grade oils are used!

Have you ever stopped to look at the chemicals in the products you use? When I first became ill I went to the supermarket (what a joke!) to get some unscented deodorant. I thought that was helping me. Wrong! What I discovered is they actually use more chemicals, called masking agents, to hide the smell. How crazy is that?!

An easy and all natural deodorant that works, I have a few I’ll mention, is:

1/3 Cup coconut Oil

1/4 Cup baking soda (make sure it’s aluminium free)

1/4 Cup arrowroot powder

2-4 Tbs (Table spoons) cornflour*

approximately 10-15 drops of essential oils (you know which ones I advocate)

Cedarwood, geranium, cilantro, lemon, actually any of the citrus oils, melaleuca, thyme, Purify, bergamot, ginger, cypress, lavender… the list goes on!

I prefer simplicity and usually choose a blend of 3, let your intuition and nose guide you 🙂

Melt the coconut oil and mix into the powders, add essential oils, mix thoroughly, put into a glass jar and store in a cool place.

*cornflour has anti-perspirant qualities, keep in mind sweating is healthy for the body as that’s one method of detox

Another recipe is:

3 Tbs coconut oil

2 Tbs shea butter

2 Tbs arrowroot powder

3 Tbs baking soda

essential oils from the list above or choose your own blend!

Melt the oils in a double boiler, add powders and oils, mix thoroughly, put into a glass jar and store in a cool place, fridge is fine too.

The simplest recipe is:

Roll some Salubelle into your armpits and then rub a little coconut oil over the top!
